Inspiration: Pressed Flowers

Source: Pinterest
The best thing about scrolling through Pinterest during my free time is getting to see such beautiful things. These are pressed flowers made into the shape of a skeleton for an ad for funeral services in Japan. I know, funerals.. But I can't deny the fact that it is a beautiful piece of art. Plus, I absolutely loooove flowers.

Words of Wisdom..

So today was very eventful! I'll update on this more later this week :) Maybe tomorrow! If I'm done with my work.

For now, I leave you with some words of wisdom that I found on Pinterest, which I should follow as well. See I'm not the best at socialising! So, this is something I should always keep in mind.

Erin Fetherston Pre-Fall 2013

Source: Pinterest
As you all know I'm a Pinterest addict, I'm not ashamed of it! I was just scrolling through and I came across Erin Fetherston's Pre-Fall collection. And I must say, fall usually is all about the neutral tones with all the autumn leaves falling off the trees. But this collection is all about colour! I am totally in love and want everything from this collection! It's feminine and the silhouettes and prints are subtle but not too over the top. Sadly, I have no idea how to get my hands on these since I'm currently in Malaysia.

And look at the flowers! I really love the fresh flowers in the background that let everything pop out from the screen. I mean who doesn't like flowers.

PS: I apologise for the lack of updates. And HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! (I wish I had these clothes for the New Year) and Happy Belated Valentine's Day! Hope everyone had an eventful holiday.

Fleur

I think every girl likes getting flowers. No matter how much they say it's a waste of money. The fresh smell of flowers. How they brighten up the room (or boat). Even if they don't last forever, the few weeks you get to keep them alive will be a gentle reminder that a person cares about you.

I always thought it was a great gesture. Very old school but extremely romantic. Just imagine a guy walking up to your doorstep with a bouquet of flowers. It doesn't have to be extravagant and expensive. Plain and simple will always be the best. Even if they plucked the flowers for you, it shows that they were thinking of you when they saw those beautiful flowers.

With technology everywhere, the gesture of getting flowers for your loved ones can never be replaced. No matter how advanced technology gets, unless they can teleport fresh flowers to you, it will never replace the great gesture of getting them from the one you love. No one wants to get virtual flowers!

Inspiration: Birds (Part #2)

Source: Pinterest
Second part of my obsession with birds and their beautiful features. I mean look at their feathers, some fine and fluffy, some sturdy to help them fly. They look so intricately created. The tiny details really does make them who they are. Like the ring of colour around their eyes. The colour of their feathery chests. Even the spots on their feathers. They're such beautiful creatures. Watching them fly through the sky, I want to be as free as a bird.

And I couldn't resist putting that picture of the bird with the flower on top of its head. I feel like it's just gonna lift it up with its wings and say "Top of the morning to ya!" Haha.

Inspiration: Jellyfish

Source: Pinterest
These poisonous creatures don't look so harmful with their beautiful colours and jelly like appearance. I mean that's why they call them jellyfish right?! I can see silhouettes of gowns and dresses while they move so elegantly. The way they move through the waters with their colourful tentacles acting as a train to their dress. These pictures make me want to play with some jellyfish! But of course I will refrain from playing with these dangerous creatures.

Braids

Source: Pinterest
Fishtail braids, regular braids, braided updos. There are so many ways you can wear a braid. I always thought that it was so whimsical, how a soft braid gave you a romantic look no matter what you're wearing. Adding flowers to your braid kicks the romantic vibe up a few notches. Sadly, I only know how to do a fishtail and regular braid. I'll be trying to learn other ways to tie a braid. Emphasis on the try!

Check me out of Pinterest

I Pinterest A LOT. And when I say a lot I mean, everyday. See, I'm on my summer break now and I've been going on Pinterest way more than usual. I find it a great way to keep track of pictures that inspire. Like a virtual pinboard where you won't run out of space and it's less of a mess. Besides, I learnt a lot from Pinterest, see things that I never knew existed. It's opened up my eyes to many things and ideas. Anyway, if you want to check out my Pinterest boards here's the link

Inspiration: Insects

Source: Pinterest
Insects have a bad reputation with almost everyone. With their stingers and so on. But I can't help to like their exterior. How they're covered in different shapes and colours. Look at the beetle pictures, it fascinates me.

Butterflies are the most inspiring for me with their delicate wings and intricate patterns. But for Alexander McQueen, the bees are in the spotlight. The sequined bee print on the loafers are so cute and give these insects a good name. Wish I could get my hands on a pair of these!

Grace Coddington

Grace Coddington is one of the movers and shakers of the fashion industry with her fiery red hair. She's Vogue's creative director and has been working at Vogue since 1988. Her passion for the art of fashion can be seen all over the pages of Vogue and it's evident in the documentary 'The September Issue'. I think people who are intrigued by the industry will enjoy watching this documentary. It really did open my eyes to the other side of the fashion world. The process and time put into building an issue.

I'll leave you with one of Grace's illustrations.

Inspiration: Minerals

Source: Pinterest
Currently obsessed with minerals. The different shapes and textures that for each mineral. No one mineral has the same shape. I mean, look at the colours! So many different shades.

During the semester, I picked up a pendant made out of agate, from Victoria Market for only AUD$5. I have yet to find a nice chain to go with the pendant, which is rather sad cause I really want to wear the pendant so badly! I'll show it to you guys once I find a necklace to go with it.

Inspiration: Birds

Source: Pinterest
I always had a fascination with birds. How they're so free flying everywhere, able to explore. Birds really are magical creatures. Their feathers come in all shapes, sizes and colours. It's like they're always in their best outfit. Dressed up all fancy heading out to a party. Look at the flamingo! Dressed the best even if it's sleeping. The ostrich with full lashes without trying too hard.

What creature inspires you?
