The Great Gatsby

I can't wait to watch The Great Gatsby! Watched the original and I was so excited when I heard they were remaking it! 

I've not read the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald, but I would like to someday. On one fine day. If only I had the passion for reading like my mom does. She never fails to read the papers everyday. 

Green Hardware

Sometime's I like to take a step back from the feminine side of me and take an edgier turn. Thought that a little hardware on my clothes would help me do that. Instead of going too edgy with those spikes that I see everywhere, I thought maybe this was a subtle way of doing that. 

The hardware detailing on the sleeves just added a little something to my otherwise plain green top. I think, details of an outfit really pull everything together. And besides, I thought I'd pay homage to my primary school green house, since I don't have many green clothes.

What to wear while bringing in the new year? I threw together an updated version of how I thought people in the 20's would ring in the new year. A 20's inspired dress with sequins and all, paired with some mary janes. Colours of choice were gold and burgundy which I think go really well together. Everyone should welcome the new year with some glitz and glamour right?

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Patches and I! Haha. Would've put a santa hat on him but he'd shake it off as soon as it touches his head. 

Anyway, I got the best Christmas present ever this year, a healthy and happy family, and something that I might keep to myself for now :) The best Christmas presents come in the most unexpected ways. Hope you guys had a great day, cause I did!

These poisonous creatures don't look so harmful with their beautiful colours and jelly like appearance. I mean that's why they call them jellyfish right?! I can see silhouettes of gowns and dresses while they move so elegantly. The way they move through the waters with their colourful tentacles acting as a train to their dress. These pictures make me want to play with some jellyfish! But of course I will refrain from playing with these dangerous creatures.

So many gorgeous girls on Australian Miss Vogue this time around. Those are my two favourite covers from the shoots. But the best outfit was worn by Jessica Stein of Tuula Vintage. That Josh Goot flare skirt is amazing! If only I could have it in my closet. It flares so beautifully.

Shades of Nude

I would say that I'm kind of a simple girl. And I guess that does reflect the way I dress. Look! Three very basic colours that match easily with most colours. Nude, pink and black. 

I found the nude romper while online shopping years ago. And I put on a black blazer to prevent myself from looking obscene! Looked like I was wearing nothing but a belt! The blazer is from Hong Kong and I love how it has a structured shoulder. The belt is vintage from my mom's closet.

Fishtail braids, regular braids, braided updos. There are so many ways you can wear a braid. I always thought that it was so whimsical, how a soft braid gave you a romantic look no matter what you're wearing. Adding flowers to your braid kicks the romantic vibe up a few notches. Sadly, I only know how to do a fishtail and regular braid. I'll be trying to learn other ways to tie a braid. Emphasis on the try!

Pink Frills

Went with a minimalistic feminine look today while out with my boyfriend. No jewelry, nothing! The top is from Forever 21 which I got for a steal! Only RM30. It has two layers of frills, which I like. It adds a very feminine touch to a plain top. Sort of peplum-esque? Paired it with some black jeggings and a clutch. 

On another note, my parents are coming back from Melbourne tomorrow! YAY! *Reunited and it feels so gooood!*

12.12.12

Today is the 12th of December 2012! My older sister, Jasmine, just graduated! I'm so proud of her!!!!! (can you tell with the !'s?) And I love you! Sadly, we couldn't join her on this special day :( Skype will have to suffice for now.

Anyway, I spent the day doing what I love, cooking, even if it's extremely tiring. Don't you feel happy when you cook for the people you love? Especially, when they actually enjoy the food! It brings me such joy. What can I say? I love cooking!

I Pinterest A LOT. And when I say a lot I mean, everyday. See, I'm on my summer break now and I've been going on Pinterest way more than usual. I find it a great way to keep track of pictures that inspire. Like a virtual pinboard where you won't run out of space and it's less of a mess. Besides, I learnt a lot from Pinterest, see things that I never knew existed. It's opened up my eyes to many things and ideas. Anyway, if you want to check out my Pinterest boards here's the link. 

Stripes

Sometimes, you want to wear something simple and comfortable to run errands in. Today, I did just that. I wore a black striped dress from H&M and used a Guess bag my mom bought many years ago. I think the bag added a little attitude to what would've been a boring outfit. 

When I was browsing through H&M, I saw the dress and knew I had to try it on. It was simple but I think every girl needs a striped dress, or two. I liked the sleeves with the slight low back. The dress has pretty good quality since it's only RM39.90. But it was a tad bit loose around the tummy area as you can see. I didn't mind it though. I thought the extra fabric may come in handy in case I stuff my face with delicious food. Haha.

Insects have a bad reputation with almost everyone. With their stingers and so on. But I can't help to like their exterior. How they're covered in different shapes and colours. Look at the beetle pictures, it fascinates me.

Butterflies are the most inspiring for me with their delicate wings and intricate patterns. But for Alexander McQueen, the bees are in the spotlight. The sequined bee print on the loafers are so cute and give these insects a good name. Wish I could get my hands on a pair of these!
