Kuala Lumpur

Today's adventure consisted of roaming around the streets of KL and snapping pictures of the beautiful landmarks. The details of these temples were magnificent. I've seen these temples many times as my parents drive pass it, but I never got to admire it's intricate details. I thought I'd share some of the pictures I took with my iPhone.

I was drawn towards the Indian temple as I've always wondered how did they build the temple.  And imagine how long they'd take to complete such an extravagant building. How'd they paint each and every figurine. It truly is an art that should be preserved forever.

Seaside

One reason to go back to Melbourne, you can be spontaneous and take a trip to the beach. Doesn't take more than an hour to reach St Kilda. Watch the waves crash on the seashore, relax and people watch.

I took these pictures when I was back in Melbourne during my spring break. It wasn't too hot or too cold on that day. But boy was it windy! That bird was gliding in the same spot cause the wind was so strong. We saw some penguins hiding between the rocks too! You have to keep your eyes out for them though. They're not easy to spot!

Fleur

I think every girl likes getting flowers. No matter how much they say it's a waste of money. The fresh smell of flowers. How they brighten up the room (or boat). Even if they don't last forever, the few weeks you get to keep them alive will be a gentle reminder that a person cares about you.

I always thought it was a great gesture. Very old school but extremely romantic. Just imagine a guy walking up to your doorstep with a bouquet of flowers. It doesn't have to be extravagant and expensive. Plain and simple will always be the best. Even if they plucked the flowers for you, it shows that they were thinking of you when they saw those beautiful flowers.

With technology everywhere, the gesture of getting flowers for your loved ones can never be replaced. No matter how advanced technology gets, unless they can teleport fresh flowers to you, it will never replace the great gesture of getting them from the one you love. No one wants to get virtual flowers!

Golden Globes Red Carpet 2013

My top picks from the 2013 Golden Globes red carpet. But my absolute favourite from all these are Anne Hathaway, Olivia Munn and Emily Blunt. They just look absolutely stunning. Their hair and makeup complimented their dresses really well. Especially Anne Hathaway, love her short hair! Wish I could pull it off.

But the colour of the night was definitely Coral. Wether it's dark and deep, or faded. It was the chosen one!  And many wore black, including the hosts of the night, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
Anne Hathaway - Chanel. Heidi Klum - Alexandre Vauthier. Lea Michele - Elie Saab
Emily Blunt - Michael Kors. Nicole Richie - Naeem Khan. Olivia Munn - Giorgio Armani.
Rachel Weisz - Louis Vuitton. Kate Hudson - Alexander McQueen. Amy Poehler - Stella McCartney. Tina Fey - L'Wren Scott
Marion Cotillard - Dior. Jennifer Lawrence - Dior. Jessica Alba - Oscar de la Renta

Who do you think was best dressed of the night?

Work It!

These are some of the outfits that I've put together for the past week. I didn't get to take pictures of all the outfits I've worn to work, but so far what I've worn to work are the bottom two pictures. Tried adding a little colour and prints into my work outfits. Mostly colour. Haha. My bottoms are always black. Black skirts, black pants.

I'll try to take more pictures of my outfits! I promise I will :) I'll update you guys more on my outfits.

Inspired by my last two posts about birds and how amazing they are. And not to mention how they go so well as prints and jewelry?

Another New Year's Resolution

The other day, on the way to work, I hear a person say that a good posture gives them confidence. I think that's quite true. Before I started working, my mom gave me some advice, woman to girl. "Don't hunch, you'll look lazy" she says. I guess she is right, hunching makes you look like you haven't had enough sleep and you'd probably look like a slob. Imagine how much poise you'll have by tweaking a small thing in your life. You'll look like a lady (or man), AND (i think this is the best part of having good posture) you'll be a few inches taller compared to when you were hunching! As a shorty, I think the few inches makes a lot of difference.

To be honest, I hunch a fair bit, but as soon as I realise that I'm hunching, I try to correct my posture. My dad despises us hunching. So, this was one of the ways to get us to stop. He'd yell "Quasimodo!", the Hunchback of Notre Dame! (Love that movie by the way) I guess he doesn't want us to permanently have a hump on our backs, which is rather thoughtful of him. Haha. I didn't appreciate this very much when I was younger, but I sure do now!

I thank my parents for trying to teach us the importance of a good posture. Cause I think it's importance has been overlooked by many people.

Therefore, I decided to add this to my New Year's Resolution List: sit up straight and improve posture. Hope I stick to it! And I hope you guys add that to your list too!

P.S: Patches is doing much better now :) He's got his energy back and his foot is healing well.

Inspiration: Birds (Part #2)

Source: Pinterest
Second part of my obsession with birds and their beautiful features. I mean look at their feathers, some fine and fluffy, some sturdy to help them fly. They look so intricately created. The tiny details really does make them who they are. Like the ring of colour around their eyes. The colour of their feathery chests. Even the spots on their feathers. They're such beautiful creatures. Watching them fly through the sky, I want to be as free as a bird.

And I couldn't resist putting that picture of the bird with the flower on top of its head. I feel like it's just gonna lift it up with its wings and say "Top of the morning to ya!" Haha.

What I've Cooked in 2012

2012 has been a great year. Lived in a different country, explored new things AND I got to cook with many new ingredients. Things that I would only dream about cooking. I just fell in love with the Queen Victoria Market. I could just walk through the whole market all day long!

It was definitely exciting that I got to cook so many new things. With a few misses along the way of course. But these were some of the highlights of my cooking journey in Australia. As you can see I don't really cook much asian food, but I plan to change that when I get back to Melbourne.

Oh and some of the recipes are on Tummy Thrills! Check it out. And we are trying our best to update Tummy Thrills more. Don't we all wish for more hours in a day!

Printed Shorts

Printed Shorts
Printed Shorts by weiyens
Seeing a lot of printed shorts around. If only I could find some that'd fit me well and make my bum look decent. I think it's rather hard to pull printed shorts off. Some of the patterns look great on the rack but look horrendous when worn. You have to keep on trying and trying on pairs, till you find a pair that flatters you. Sometimes, prints that you'd never think would work may surprise you. As they say, you'll never know until you try.

Update!

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great start to 2013! I have to apologize for not updating. I just started work and by the time I get home I am absolutely exhausted. Never knew it could be this tiring. When I get home, all I want to do is sleep! I'll try to queue some posts up for the week so this blog won't be like some ghost town.

On the other note, poor Patches isn't doing so great :( I'll save you the gross details. He hurt his paw pretty bad and it's been a long week of bringing him to the vet every morning to get his shots and to makes sure that it's healing. The poor thing :( Hurts my heart to see him suffer so much. But he's been a trooper and he's doing much better now. UPDATE: Patches is not doing so well anymore. In just a day it's gone downhill. I have no idea what this vet has been doing. But we're gonna bring him to another vet recommended by my neighbour. Just hope it's not as bad as it looks and it's easy to fix. It's a horrible thing that's happening right now. Pray for him please. It really means a lot to me and to every one that loves him.

Anyway, I'll be sure to update again very soon. So, stay tuned! I'll leave you guys with a quote from the one and only Dr Seuss!
