Textures

Ruffles from a silk tank and a black quilted jacket add textures to a rather simple outfit. There's just something about neutral colours that scream autumn. I know I said previously that I like to add a pop of colour to my outfits, but sometimes it's better to fly under the radar.

Mercadanté

Mercadanté on Lygon Street, famous for their owners playing pranks on customers. We had a try for a friend's birthday and I must say, she got startled quite a bit. But it was all in good fun. Besides their food is pretty good. And it's great for sharing if you're in a group. Sharing is caring right? And besides, you get to try more things!

Orange Aztec

Autumn is finally here and I ain't liking it one bit! It's extra difficult to get out of bed, as if it wasn't already.. But I know I'll be trying to stay warm with many layers, a thick scarf and some boots. Since it's autumn, everyone is opting for neutral colours but I always like to add a pop of colour or print to my outfit to add some life to the gloomy weather. Hence, my bright orange scarf.

Inspiration: Pressed Flowers

Source: Pinterest
The best thing about scrolling through Pinterest during my free time is getting to see such beautiful things. These are pressed flowers made into the shape of a skeleton for an ad for funeral services in Japan. I know, funerals.. But I can't deny the fact that it is a beautiful piece of art. Plus, I absolutely loooove flowers.

Library

3 weeks left of the semester. How time flies by (too quickly I might add). Time to kick into study mode. Struggling but hopefully getting there. Distractions being flung at me from every direction. For all you students out there, don't forget to keep a balance between studying and having fun. The scales might tip once in a while, and you might be playing catch up. I'm not trying to scare any of you, the true intention is to scare myself into study mode..

Met Gala 2013

From instagram photos of the attendees, it was a real punk fest (the theme was punk). Everyone was covered in spikes and provocative outfits walking up the famous red carpet that goes up some flights of stairs. The Met Gala by the Costume Institute Gala was truly an awaited event. Every year, the Met Gala has a theme and everyone gets a chance to dress up in the most beautifully made dresses. If only I could play dress up like they do.

Anyway, as you all know, I'm not a very punk girl, but these were some of my favourites.
Snow whites.
Best dressed couples.
The Black Swans.
These not so punk, but beautiful dresses.

Terrarium

I'm absolutely in love with terrariums! Ever since I saw them on Pinterest, it reminded me of those cartoons where there's a bubble around their beautiful but scary world. It feels like another planet. Maybe some kind of "human" is living in there? Another kind of earth. Or at least where dinosaurs roam about.

Beatrix

Beatrix, a quaint cafe in North Melbourne that was so inviting. Like going over to your grandma's house for tea or lunch. Filled with baked goods on the counters to tempt your sweet tooth. It's a very cosy cafe that makes you feel right at home.
Old school beaters hanging from the ceiling.
We had a Shak-In-A-Roll, Bea-L-T and the Rachael which was one of the specials of the day. The Shak-In-A-Roll is a vegetarian number but don't be fooled, its packed with as much flavour as the others.
The Rachael - Corned beef with swiss cheese and parsley and mustard slaw.
All the cakes and pies tempting us for a try.
When we finished out food, suddenly a fresh chiffon cake came flying out of the kitchen. It looked so heavenly with the passionfruit glaze dripping over the edges. We were tempted to have a try but we were a little too full for dessert. Maybe next time? But if you're there and they have the Coconut Cake, do have a try! It's soooo delicious!
